Ship sinks in Brazilian Amazon river, 2 killed
Rio de Janeiro, Jul 22: At least two people were killed when a ship boarding 185 people sank on Tuesday, Jul 21 in Brazilian Amazon river near Manaus, an official said.
The incident took place when the ship detected some mechanical problems. But when the ship arrived at the dock, it began to sink and lot of passengers fell into water.
Firefighters said that the first body removed from the Rio Negro, main branch of the Amazonas, was a girl of 8 years, the other is a woman aged between 45 and 55 years.
According to Port Authority, the ship went to Manaus, main city in Brazilian Amazon region, to Santarem in the nearby Para state.
The rescue teams continue to search for more people who might have trapped inside the vessel.
