Another top LeT militant held in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Jul 21: Another militant, who is sought by India and is working for Pakistan based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba, has been arrested by Bangladesh Police.

Maulana Mohammad Monsur Ali alias Maulana Habibullah was arrested on Monday, Jul 20 by the detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), after information another arrested Indian militant, Mufti Obaidullah.

The police said that both the arrested militants are Indian nationals. Habibullah is known to be an arms and explosives expert of the LeT, while Obaidullah is an organiser, they added.

Detective Branch Deputy Commissioner Manirul Islam said Habibullah was Obaidullah's superior in the militant organisation, and added that Habibullah entered Bangladesh by bribing guards on the Indian side of the border.

"He has links to madrasas in Bangladesh. He also had connections with the top HuJI leaders Maulana Abdur Rouf and Maulana Ali Ahmed," bdnews24.com quoted Islam, as saying.

Habibullah told reporters he was involved with the commando force, but not with the Kashmiri militant group. He said he knows a leaders of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul Jihad-e-Islami (HuJI) from his time in Afghanistan.
