Indian culture to come alive in an American fest

New Delhi, Jul 20: Thai Tennis Organization in America (TTOA) in association with India International School (IIS) is organizing an event which is aimed at understanding Indians in America and their cultures.

The festival that is organized annually promotes a greater understanding of the Asian-Americans. The festival which as featured China in 2000 and Thailand in 2007 will focus on the India this year.

The two-day event which will be held at Lake Newport Tennis Facility in Reston, VA on Saturday, Aug 1 and Sunday, Aug 2. Saturday's session will commence at 10 a.m. and end at 10 p.m. and Sunday's session will start at 11 a.m. to end at 6 p.m.

India International school will be organizing the event called 'India Village' which will feature India"s authentic regional foods, arts, crafts and entertainment.

"The project is being planned very meticulously and the organizing committee meets every week twice a week to make sure there are no curveballs when the rubber meets the road," says Rupen Shah, who volunteered to manage the project on behalf of IIS.

The school will display 'The very best of India' through unique programming content which showcases the arts, crafts and costumes of India, as well as food delicacies from east, west, north, and south India via the 40-50 booths.

Apart from this there will be shows on classical and folk dances, yoga, magic, comedy, and of course the popular Bollywood dances. The event will also hold themed attractions including Incredible India presentation on a giant screen TV, Face painting, Indian tattoos (Mehandi) and other attractions.

The school is bringing together many artists and organizations to showcase the true spirit of India- unity in diversity.
