Tottenham close to bagging Crouch in 12 million pound deal

By Super Admin

London, July 19 (ANI): Ace striker Peter Crouch is close to joining Tottenham in a 12 million pound move.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been tracking the Portsmouth striker all summer and an offer was tabled in the last 24 hours, News of the World reported.

Crouch, also a target for Fulham, looked set to join Sunderland, but stalled when he heard of the chance to reunite with his old boss Redknapp. Crouch will hold talks with Redknapp this week.

"It seems Portsmouth want to sell and if that is the case, Peter is a player I'm definitely interested in. He has played for me twice before and I know what a good player he is.

"I have not spoken to Peter Storrie at Pompey and there are other clubs involved but it seems like a bit of a free -for-all. I'm looking to make one or two signings and he is someone I would love to bring in," Redknapp said.

Redknapp sold Crouch to Aston Villa during his first spell in charge at Pompey before re-signing him from Liverpool for nine million pound last summer.

Crouch's former Pompey strike partner Jermain Defoe is keen to reunite. "Peter is a great person to play alongside and it would be fantastic if we can get him," he said. (ANI)
