Jaipur, July 19(ANI): Following a spate of hoax calls, Rajasthan police has decided to track down the mischief-makers, in order to punish them and also to recover all the expenses incurred during the search operations.
This was disclosed by P K Singh, Inspector General of Police of Rajasthan at Jaipur on Sunday.
"Be it the police, medical, fire engine all when deployed incurs a lot of money, time strength and energy. Because of this we decided to make a comprehensive strategy of filing a case against the callers who will be tried before a court," said Singh.
Singh informed that police would initially file a case against the hoax caller and make him or her pay a hefty sum as penalty.
"Secondly, if the person has a previous criminal record, then he/she would be tried under PASA (Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act)," Singh added.
He also noted that since threat calls cannot be taken lightly, civil suits would be filed against the culprits or suspects for misleading the entire system with hoax calls.
"We called in legal experts and asked if we can file civil suits giving a strong message that whatever and whenever the hoax caller misuses the law, the resultant expenses will be recovered from him," Singh added.
According to the police, most of the hoax callers who were nabbed mentioned that they did it for fun or settle scores of personnel enmity.
Earlier, Rajasthan had been put on alert after the State received a threat from Pakistan based terror outfit Lashkar-E-Toiba. (ANI)
