London, July 19(ANI): England's decision to churn out something similar to the money-spinning Indian Premier League looks set to be scrapped as England and Wales Cricket Board bosses consider that it would not bring in enough cash.
Plans were in place for a T20 tournament, which would have been played alongside the Twenty20 Cup from next summer, however, Cricket Board chiefs' bosses realised the tournament would not bring in the same cash as their rival version in India.
"The preference of the original working party was for only one Twenty20 competition but we were told the additional money was so significant that we had to embrace a second version," News of the world quoted a Chairman, as saying.
"But we're growing uncomfortable about the details. There's no money on the table yet and the sums being talked about are not so great that they make these changes seem worthwhile," the Chairman added.
The compromise is likely to include extending the Twenty20 Cup, with county chairmen worrying about rebuilding their season around the tournament. (ANI)
