Court grants bail to Rita Bahuguna Joshi
New Delhi, Jul 18: The Moradabad court has reportedly granted interim bail to UPCC Chief, Rita Bahuguna Joshi till Jul 29. She was granted bail on surety of Rs 30,000
The Congress chief of Uttar Pradesh government was detained on Wednesday, Jul 15 after she made certain derogatory remarks against the BSP supremo and state Chief Minister, Mayawati.
Joshi was charged with under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and was sent to the judicial custody for 14 days.
Her speech sparked of a battle between the Congress and Bahujan Samajwadi Party. Maywati, who said that the remarks were insulting to dalits and women, demanded a apology from Sonia Gandhi and she also alleged that Congress staged the violence that took place at Joshi's house after her speech.
However, on Saturday, Jul 18, a ruling BSP MLA along with the president of the Lucknow unit of the party were facing an FIR for burning down UPCC chief's house.
