Tata Nano's first delivery on July 17

New Delhi, Jul 16: The nation will be watching as Ratan Tata hands over the first key of the people's car, Tata Nano to the first lucky customer on Friday, Jul 17.

Just a few weeks back, Tata released the names of the 1 lakh buyers who will be the first to receive the car. The first 100,000 applicants were selected randomly and will be the first ones who will get their hands on the car, the company revealed on Jun 23. Tata aims at deliver the first one lakh cars by March 2010.

The country's businessman, Ratan Tata revealed his dream of building a people's car in 2003. The car that first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2008 is now ready for the Indian markets so that the people can finally actualize their dreams of owning a car.

Even though the company went through a lot of turmoil in terms of the land issue in West Bengal and having to shift the production to Gujarat, Ratan Tata stood strong saying, 'a promise is a promise'.

Now, he has kept his promise by being able to hand over the first car at the price-protected rate.

The cars that come in the price range of price range of Rs 1.23 lakh to Rs 1.72 lakh are equipped with 623-cc rear-engine car and a fuel economy of over 23 km per litre.
