London, July 15 (ANI): Prosecutors probing into the payments made to escorts and showgirls to attend parties at the homes of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi are likely to extend their investigation to women who allegedly accompanied him to a spa in Umbria last year.
A magazine had earlier reported that PM had spent a weekend in a luxurious Umbrian health spa with an entourage of women, including an actress and a former showgirl who have worked for his television stations, when he was supposed to attend a political rally.
Although Bari prosecutors have questioned 19 women over the payments, they are likely to question all or some of the three or four girls allegedly brought to the Marc Messegue Health Centre near Todi in Umbria in November, reports Times Online,
However, Berlusconi who was at the spa for massage therapy for back pain is not under investigation.
The prosecutors are probing a businessman, Giampaolo Tarantini, who is suspected of assisting in prostitution by allegedly paying women to attend parties at Berlusconi's homes in the capital and Sardinia
Tarantini has admitted that he reimbursed only the women's expenses. (ANI)
