Solar eclipse makes Bihar's Taregna a hot spot

Patna, Jul 15: Bihar's Taregna has emerged as a hot spot for all the tourists and scientists this month- courtesy the total solar eclipse. Tarengna which is 35 km from Patna is the eclipse intercepting point.

Astrophysicists, solar scientists and astronomers from across the world are expected to arrive at Taregna with the hopes of getting the best view of the longest total solar eclipse of this century.

Preparing for the visits, the Indira Gandhi Planetarium, Patna has collaborated with a Delhi-based NGP, SPACE to handle the influx.

Amitabh Ghosh, the planetarium director has revealed that the NASA's solar scientist Sandeep Das Gupta, his wife Ratnashri, the director of the Nehru Planetarium, the famous astronomer Amitabh Pandey and two technical experts Sarib and Sanjeev along with scholars from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR)-Mumbai are expected.

A research team that will come together at the planetarium to study the eclipse will be starting their rehearsals and experiments from Thursday, Jul 16.

For the commoners, a mass viewing event has been organized by Bihar Gyan-Vigyan Samiti at the Gandhi Maidan, Patna.
