India, Pak discuss terrorism on NAM sidelines

Egypt, Jul 15: India Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon met his Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir had a 'good' and detailed discussion on terrorism on Tuesday, Jul 14 in Egyptian resort town of Sharm-el-Sheikh on the sidelines of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) summit.

They have also decided to meet again on Wednesday, Jul 15 following to prepare the basis for the meeting between Prime Ministers of the two countries on Thursday, Jul 16.

The sources said that the meeting soon began after Shiv Shankar Menon landed in this Egyptian Red Sea resort from Paris with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the 15th NAM summit, lasted about 90 minutes and the two apparently had a productive meeting.

Sources also said the two diplomats are believed to have discussed thr progress made by Islamabad in its probe into the 26/11 Mumbai terror strikes and the steps taken to dismantle terrorism infrastructure on its soil.

The discussions between Menon and Bashir will serve as the basis for Thursday's meeting between Singh and Gilani.
