$1M bill for Queensland Parliament's blocked toilets
Melbourne, July 14 (ANI): Queensland MPs are struggling with the stink arousing from blocked toilets at Parliament House.
At a budget hearing, Liberal National Party MP Jann Stuckey showed the Parliament photographs of the level nine loos, when they were last blocked on June 19.
"It was not pretty," the Courier Mail quoted her as having said at the hearing.
Speaker John Mickel agreed with the Stuckey, and said that the problem had occurred because plumbers renovating the toilets had installed piping that was too long, causing an airlock and the blockage.
The renovation work has already cost 428,500 dollars in six months, and could require further work because of the poor choice of pipes.
Although the total budget for the project is 1.236 million dollars, decision whether the pipes will be replaced is still to be taken. (ANI)
