DMRC chief Sreedharan resigns over bridge mishap
New Delhi, Jul 12: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) chief E Sreedharan resigned on Sunday, Jul 12 following the metro bridge mishap in New Delhi.
Sreedharan said, "I was in Bangalore when the incident took place. Within 10 minutes I was intimated about it but unfortunately I couldn't take the first flight."
He also said, "We have constituted a high-powered committee to probe the matter. The committee will consist of Prof Nagal from IIT, Delhi; Prof BR Bose from Delhi College of Engineering, Steve Lorie and Rajen Katharia from DMRC. The panel will summit the report within 10 days."
Taking moral responsibility for the incident, he added, "I resign from the post of Managing Director, DMRC. I have submitted my resignation to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. For me even one casualty is too many."
