Banerjee's white paper will uncover reality: PM
On Board special flight, July 11 (ANI): Commenting on Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee's decision to bring out a white paper on the expenses of the ministry during her predecessor Lalu Prasad's tenure, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that white paper will uncover the reality and after that loose ends will be figured out.
Addressing a press conference onboard after attending the G8-G5 summit at L'Aquila in Italy, Dr. Singh said, "The Railway Minister has decided to come out with the white paper. I feel that white paper will uncover the reality and clear the air and after that we will be able to figure out the loose ends and find out who is responsible and what can be done to plug the loopholes."
"Figures can be deceptive and can be seen from different perspectives. I have not seen the matter in great detail," he added.
Lalu has already said he was not worried over the move, as it will bring out the truth.
Taking exception to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's statement that the white paper would expose his 'bazigari' (figure fudging to claim profits), Lalu said it would in fact bring out the truth on his performance as Railway Minister.
Banerjee had declared that she would come out with a white paper on operational, organisational and financial situation and performance of Railways in the past five years when Lalu was at the helm. By Naveen Kapoor (ANI)
