Major changes in Air India's top management soon
New Delhi, Jul 4: The government is all set to take serious measures in its effort to aid recession-hit Air India. "Some head will roll", the Aviation Minister Praful Patel said while informing that major revamp is set to happen in the top brass of Air India along with partial disinvestment.
Patel said that changes in the top management will be taking place in 30 days. Quoting sources in the ministry, media reports say that seven independent directors to be brought on the AI board.
They also claim that internationally reputed persons will be inducted. A global advertisement will be put out in order to find a new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Air India, the sources said.
"We are going to bring high quality people of great integrity and people with a proven track record in business," Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said.
Apart from revamping the top management, there would be 'partial disinvestment' in the near future. Patel had earlier indicated that airline could also go for issuing initial public offer (IPO).
According to ministry, the successful implementation of these plans will ensure a full turnaround in 2 years which is the target time.
