New Delhi July 5 (ANI): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) politburo meeting might settle the tussle between two of its senior leaders of Kerala unit.

The two-day politburo that commenced from Saturday was called to discuss the on going fight between Kerala Chief Minister V.S.Achuthanandan and General Secretary of party's Kerala unit Pinarayi Vijayan.

The politburo deferred decision on Kerala unit for today as both the leaders were sticking on their demands.

Achuthanandan said the multi-crore SNC-Lavlin scam, in which Vijayan is an accused, has hurt the party's image, and has to be sacked from the party. On the other hand Vijayan called for an action against Achuthanandan, saying that his statement has broken the discipline of the party.

Meanwhile, splits are visible in Vijayan faction as, state Home Minister Kodiyeri Balkrishnan moving out of his camp. Achuthanandan is believed to be backing Balkrishnan for the secretary post of party's state unit if the later supports him in politburo.

The tussle between Vajayan and Achuthanandan is not new to the CPM. In 2007, party was forced to suspend both these leaders after they indulged in public spat, the party withdrew their suspension after few months. (ANI)
