Shopian Case: JK HC orders an in depth probe

Jammu Kashmir, Jul 4: The Shopian Double Murder case which triggered of a wide spread agitation in the state has managed to grab the attention of the Jammu Kashmir High Court. The court on Saturday, Jul 4 has directed the police to exhume the two victims' bodies to conduct fresh post-mortem.

However, the consent of the victim's family is required to go ahead with the order. Before this, the HC on Friday, Jul 3 ordered a in depth probe into the issue and has asked the investigators to regularly update the court .

The High Court has also asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to interrogate all suspended officials and has allowed the them to use narco-analysis for interrogation if necessary.

17 year old Asiya's body was found along with her pregnant sister in law's body on May 30. The state went on a protest against the alleged rape and murder of the women by Indian soldiers. Later, reports confirmed the rape and murder along with Judicial probe suggesting that the police officials who were in charge of the case had not done what they could have, leading to their suspension.
