Ghaziabad: Passenger & goods train collide

Ghaziabad, Jul 4: Looks like Mamata Banerjee is not only facing trouble from the former Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav. After a railway bridge collapsed in Bihar on the very day Mamata presented the Railway Budget 2009-10, a passenger train collided with a goods train near the Ghaziabad railway station.

According to reports, at least seven persons, including a driver and a guard were injured in this mishap which took place at around 11.50 p.m. on Friday, Jul 3.

The 310 Ambala Saharanpur Nizammuddin passenger train was on its way to the Nizammuddin railway station in Delhi while the goods train was on its way from from Najibabad to Asaoti.

According to railway official, the passenger tain hit the goods train from behind when it halted at the signal. Also, engine and luggage van of the passenger train were derailed in the accident disrupting railway traffic on the busy track and operations are still on to restore the traffic on the route.
