Murar (Gwalior), July 1ANI): The Government of Madhya Pradesh continued to provide mid-day meals to their children in schools during the summer vacations.
The state government ordered for the distribution of mid day meal during the summer vacations so that the children belonging to poor families could have nutritional food.
"As per the orders by the Madhya Pradesh government and drought looming in certain areas, mid-day meals have been provided to students in schools during the vacations. I keep a thorough check on whether the meals are being provided or not. Especially during the vacations children are called out from their houses to have the meals in schools," said Sanjay Aggarwal, Convenor, Local Governing Body (Panchayat), Murar.
The meal includes vegetables, pulses and chapattis.
"We are having summer vacations of two months but then also we are receiving nutritional food regularly here in the schools. We get to eat a balanced diet of both pulses and vegetables," said Arjun, a student.
Mid-day Meal Scheme, initiated by Central government, involves providing free lunch to school-children on all working days.
The main objectives of the largest school lunch scheme are increasing school enrolment and attendance, improving socialization among children belonging to all castes, addressing malnutrition and social empowerment. By Ashok Pal (ANI)
