Peanut butter may help cut heart disease risk
London, June 26 (ANI): It may sound unbelievable, but a new study has found that snacking on peanuts or peanut butter five days a week can halve the risk of a heart attack.
To reach the conclusion, scientists from Harvard Medical School reviewed thousands of women with type two diabetes - a condition associated with obesity, inactivity and poor diet. It also increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes, reports The Daily Express.
Out of 6,000 women studied, those who regularly ate peanuts had the greatest protection against heart attacks, with the risk reduced by up to 44 per cent.
The study has been published in the Journal of Nutrition. (ANI)
