Mumbai, Jun 14: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party activits celebrated its supremo Raj Thackeray's birthday on Sunday, May 14. However the speciality of this year's birthday celebrations of Raj Thackeray is that the MNS chief is not just expecting good wishes and bouquets from his party workers, but cash donations!
“With the Vidhan Sabha elections coming up this time for Rajsaheb's birthday rather than getting bouquets and gifts, we're hoping our supporters contribute to the donation box," said MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar, during the birthday celebrations. Is Raj Thackery going UP CM and BSP chief Mayawathi's way? Maya is famous for her extravagant birthday parties and open calls for lavish birthday gifts.
But asking for donations is not new in Thackeray family. Bal Thackeray, the Shiv Sena supremo collected crores of rupees during his birthday. The amount reportedly went for party's parliamentary election campaign. With the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections nearing, donations as birthday gifts would not be that bad idea, specially for Raj Thackeray, who is planning to contest at least 200 out of 288 seats.
