Abohar,June 13 (ANI): The recent general elections in India saw Dr. Manmohan Singh leading the United Progressive Alliance against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance to victory.
Radio Pakistan would still like to believe that Manmohan Singh is a person who follows Hindu leaders' diktats! Even BJP leader Lal Krishan Advani would not like to have Manmohan Singh take orders from him.
Sudarshan Dhingra, a political analyst, from Punjab says that the Punjabi Durbar programme should carry some credibility, as it is directed to listeners in border areas of Punjab, and when talking about Punjabis it has to be careful.
Dr. Manmohan Singh himself belongs to a minority community and Pakistan Radio saying that minorities in India are feeling insecure has no impact.
"If the votes are decided on the basis of one's intelligence and secular credentials, 95 percent of the votes will go in Manmohan Singh's favour.
A fire is burning in Pakistan. A number of Sikhs have stayed for years in the Swat valley but they have been beaten up and compelled to pay Jazia (tax on non-Muslims'). India has a large number of Muslims residing in the country in comparison to Pakistan. We live as brothers. We have communal harmony here," said Sudarshan Dhingra.
Dhingra said that it was sad that Pakistan harboured foreign nationals who joined the Taliban, which is committing violence against Pakistanis. Those who play with fire soon burn their own hands.
The world noticed how Dr. Singh functioned as an effective leader throughout his last tenure as the Prime Minister of India.
He was assertive against terror on the world stage. Within the country, he implemented the loan-waiver schemes worth thousands of crores for the poor farmers, irrespective of their caste or religion, Dr. Singh showed exemplary leadership in taking care of countrymen's welfare on all fronts. And, his government returned to power.
He comes from Sikh community but he has never allowed his office to get influenced on communal lines and has taken care of all religious communities maintaining equality. (ANI)
