Nick Faldo to be knighted for his contribution to golf

By Super Admin

London, June 13 (ANI): Nick Faldo will add a knighthood to his six major golf championship wins, as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours.

One of the Britain's most successful golfers, Faldo, won 30 European Tour titles, including six majors, before effectively ending his playing days in 2006 to embark on a new career as a television golf analyst.

He has since gone on to captain the European Ryder Cup team and, in one of his proudest moments, learned on Friday he would receive a knighthood.

"I was delighted to hear the news that I will be receiving a knighthood and am more than a little bit humbled to have been afforded this great honour," Faldo said.aldo heads a list of celebrities from show business, arts, city, industry, police and military who are honoured as part of the celebrations.

There are conspicuously no awards for politicians in the aftermath of the revelations over MPs expenses, The Telegraph reports.

Faldo (51) became the youngest player to qualify for the Ryder Cup at the age of 20, and spent 92 weeks as the world's number one golfer. (ANI)
