Islamabad, jun 13: In what seems to be a step taken by India to set tone for a dialog with Pakistan, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Sharat Sabharwal met Pakistan's Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik in Islamabad on Saturday, Jun 13.

Sabharwal and Malik reportedly discussed the status of the probe into the Mumbai terror attacks, and the Indian envoy was given an update on the Pakistani probe into the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

The meeting is also being seen in the context of the recent release of a key accused in the 26/11 strikes, JuD chief, Hafiz Saeed by Pakistan.

Also, this meeting comes three days before the Russian Summit where the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari are expected to meet. However, there is no meeting set up for the two leaders for formal talks.

The peace process and communication between the two neighbours ceased with India suffering the massive terror strike that took the lives of about 200 people.
