London, Jun 11 (ANI): San Francisco city workers are being terrorized by an aggressive blackbird, which swoops down repeatedly at their heads as they are walking along the financial district.
The bird, which has brought back memories of scenes from Alfred Hitchcock's film 'The Birds', has been spending the past few weeks dive-bombing passers-by, reports the Telegraph.
It seeks its target from a perch on a building ledge, and then flies toward them at a high speed near the intersection of California and Front Street.
None of the victims are harmed, though they are left startled and bemused by the blackbird, which has now become something of a tourist attraction, with crowds of people gathering to watch its antics, armed with cameras and video recorders.
Ornithology experts say that the behaviour, called "mobbing", happens when birds are trying to protect a nearby nest.
Coincidentally, a small town in the San Francisco Bay area, provided the backdrop for Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 thriller 'The Birds', starring Tippi Hedren. (ANI)
