Following her complaint, the accused Dharmendra Tomar was arrested and a case of molestation was lodged against him with the GRP station. The is the second incident of foreign national being molested in Kanpur within a span of four days. Earlier on Sunday, Jun 7 morning a ward boy at Hallett hospital of Kanpur reportedly molested a British national.
The Canadian woman, along with her friend Adam, were touring India. They were on their way to Delhi from Guwahati, when Tomar tried to molest her as the train approached Kanpur Central railway station. The tourist said, "we were in an AC coach, Tomar was also present there. When I was on way to the wash room, Tomar was waiting nearby. He misbehaved with me and tried to drag me inside the toilet. I pushed him aside and shouted for help. Adam and other passengers came to my rescue."
Her friend Adam said that the accused was in an inebriated condition. "A few days ago, a bag containing our passport, some cash and documents was stolen. We were on our way to Delhi to meet officials at the Canadian Embassy", he added. However Tomer, the accused denied all allegations and said that he did not misbehave to the Canadian lady and he was not aware why he was dragged into the controversy.
