Burns hands Obama's personal letter to India
Washington, Jun 11: US officials on Wednesday, Jun 10 said that William Burns, US diplomat has handed a letter to India from US president Barack Obama about US-Indian ties.
Richard Holbrooke, the US envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, said that US diplomat has delivered the letter after he arrived to New Delhi on Tuesday, Jun 9 but declined to disclose its contents.
"This administration believes that what happens in Afghanistan and Pakistan is of vital interest to our national security, and ... that India is a country that we must keep in closest consultation with," Holbrooke said.
Holbrooke added, "We consider India an absolutely critical country in the region. They are vitally effective and we want to work closely with them."
