Lahore, June 9 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to cancel Javed Miandad's membership of the Governing Board for the time being.
The PCB chairman Ijaz Butt rejected reports that Miandad has been removed as member of the Governing Board, saying such a step requires an approval from the country's President, who is also PCB's patron-in-chief.
Butt said it was decided in the Governing Board meeting, held last week that no paid employee of the PCB could be on the Governing Board.
"We will ask Miandad whether he will accept the post of a Governing Board member or the director general as per the decision of the Governing Board," The Dawn quoted Butt, as saying.
It may be noted that the PCB is considering restructuring the board, under which it wants to sack about 250 employees.
Both coach Intikhab Alam and Miandad are paid employees of the PCB, thus they are not eligible to remain members of the Governing Board.
While Alam has already tendered his resignation from the membership, it was being anticipated that the board will also ask Miandad to follow suit. (ANI)
