India among 10 impactful markets: Google

New Delhi, Jun 9: Google Inc, the search engine giant said that India will become one of the 10 most 'impactful markets' in the next 3-5 years. It is also planning to hire locally to drive its brand advertising stream of business.

Shailesh Rao, Google India MD said to newsagencies, "Our focus in India is growth. India is going to be one of the 10 most impactful market for Google in three to five years...minimal impact on India in terms of job cuts announced globally." However the US-based company did not reveal its India revenue or headcount.

Rao added that outside United States, India has one of the highest headcounts. India has two R&D centers. He further said that in India, Google is hiring at a reduced level and is need based.
