More problems for Pak cricket as Alam, Younis go poles apart

London, June 8 (ANI): The Pakistan cricket team is never short of controversies, as barely six months after the change in captaincy, differences seems to have crept-in between Coach Intikhab Alam and captain Younis Khan.

Both the captain and coach are going poles apart when it comes to matters concerning the team, The News reports.

It was Alam who had written a damning report against Shoaib Malik after some heavy defeats against Sri Lanka in the home series recently, and backed Khan for the captaincy.

Khan and Alam have never been seen discussing strategies with each other during any of the practice sessions in England.

The void between both of them became more apparent just ahead of their opening game against England in the ICC Twenty20 Championship.

While Intikhab opined that the top order should try to get atleast 60 runs in the power-play overs, Khan was of the view that the openers should provide a stable start on which the middle order could capitalize later.

Just ahead of the practice match against India, which Pakistan lost by nine wickets, Alam had said that experimentation could hamper the side's performance, but Pakistan fielded two inexperienced players, opener Shahzab Hasan, and fast bowler Mohammad Aamir in the game against India.

Source said that Khan doesn't want Alam to continue as coach, and wants somebody with whom he has a better rapport.

This internal team conflict would pinch Pakistan even more after it was defeated by England by 48 runs in their first game of the Twenty20 Championship at the Oval. (ANI)
