Lucknow, June 7(ANI): Uttar Pradesh Police has decided to seek custody of conman Ashok Jadeja for duping tribals in the state's Mathura District.
An FIR was lodged against Jadeja, his wife and eight others for swindling 22 members of the Bhaatu and Sansi tribes in Mathura District by posing as a godman.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal said a warrant is being issued and will be served on Jadeja, who is currently in police custody in Ahmedabad.
He was arrested on June 3.
According to the FIR, Jadeja had visited Mathura's tribal locality on March 14, and claimed that he had the direct blessings of the goddess.
Jadeja and his associates collected over 50 lakh rupees from about 22 tribals assuring them of a trouble free life in the future. (ANI)
