Washington, June 6 (ANI): U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama replaced Jackie Norris as her chief of staff in the White House's East Wing because the latter was not enjoying the bureaucratic part of the job and wanted a change, says a senior administration official.

Michelle has chosen Susan Sher, a long-time friend and mentor, as a replacement for Norris, who has now been appointed senior adviser to the Corporation for National and Community Service.

The official revealed that Norris disliked the management and scheduling duties, and the intense social component of the job

The source added that Norris' move was a mutual one.

"The first lady and Jackie remain very close. Jackie got the job because Michelle loves her and wanted somebody that she could trust, and liked a great deal, in the job," the Politico quoted the source as saying.

"It's no coincidence that she's going to a government agency that Michelle Obama really cares a great deal about, and that is in an area where Michelle is extraordinarily active - national service and those issues. Jackie is going to be much happier," the senior official said.

The shake-up took place barely five months into President Barack Obama's first term. (ANI)
