Cameron White excited to play, but unhappy over Symonds abnormal exit

By Super Admin

Melbourne, June 5(ANI): Australian leg spinner Cameron White, who has been called into the national squad as a replacement to all-rounder Andrew Symonds ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup, has said that he is happy, but distressed at the way Symonds has had to make his exit.

"I don't think anyone likes to see upheaval or drama of this nature, but it really is out of my hands. All I can do is seize the opportunity, hopefully get a game and do my best to help Australia win the tournament," The Herald Sun quoted White as saying.

The 25-year-old Victorian captain, was excluded from the initial 16- man squad, but now will join the squad following the International Cricket Council giving its approval to Cricket Australia's request to make the late change.

"It's all happened so quickly, it's really exciting to get the call up. I was pretty resigned to having missed out and not playing any cricket for a while longer, which has been the way things have gone this year," White told the Herald Sun.

"I do love the English conditions and I'm really looking forward to getting back there," White said.

White will miss Australia's tournament opener against the West Indies at The Oval on Sunday, as he won't be able to reach on time.

He will play in against Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge on Tuesday. (ANI)
