Mkts end with marginal gains, Sugar sector surges
Mumbai, Jun 5: The 30-share BSE Sensex ended the day at 15,103.55 points, up 94.87 points or 0.63 per cent. The 50-share NSE Nifty shut stop 0.31 per cent or 14.25 points higher at 4586.90.
The benchmarks closed with marginal gains on the back of capital goods, technology, cement, auto, select metal and oil & gas stocks. Even though the markets were volatile, the markets traded with a positive bias.
However, the gains were capped by the selling in Reliance Industries, ITC, SBI, NTPC, DLF, Reliance Infrastructure, Suzlon Energy, Tata Steel and PNB.
Surging about 3 to 6 per cent, Grasim, Tata Motors, BHEL, L&T, Infosys, Tata Power, Hindalco and M&M proved to be the gainers among the frontliners.
Sugar sector waas active on the markets as CLSA initiated coverage on the sector with a buy rating.

Mkts continue +ve; IT, Auto see buying interest
At 1:48 PM Sensex was up 153.69 points or 1.02 per cent at 15162.37, and the Nifty was up 31.05 points or 0.68 per cent at 4603.70. The markets were continuing the strong rally.
Strong buying interest was seen in IT, capital goods, auto, pharma and metal stocks but FMCG and oil & gas stocks were trading weak. While ICICI Bank, Infosys contributed positively to Sensex, Reliance, SBI, ITC and NTPC proved to be the draggers.
Grasim was trading at Rs 2,565.10 up 8.36 per cent, Infosys at Rs 1,695.10 up 4.19 per cent, ACC at Rs 868.15 up 3.84 per cent, Hindalco at Rs 92.95 up 3.45 per cent and M&M at Rs 713 up 3.37 per cent proving to be the gainers on Sensex.
ITC was trading lower Rs 192.70 down 4.82 per cent.
The broader indices, BSE midcap and smallcap indices were up 1 per cent each.
The gainers among the Midcaps were Bannariamman, BEML, Bajaj Hind, Berger Paints and JM Financial were up 10 to 17 per cent.

Mkts positive; Tata Power, M&M, Unitech, Infy gain
At 11:22 AM Sensex was up 117 points, to 15,125; Nifty was trading at 4,601, up 28 points. The BSE Midcap rose 0.9 per cent and Smallcap Index gained 0.7 per cent.
Sensex remained above the 15k mark due to buying in metal, infrastructure, banking,technology and auto stocks. But on a negative note, the profit booking in ITC, Reliance Industries, SBI, Reliance Infrastructure and Power Grid limited the markets ascent to an extent.
As ONGC was flat, the markets saw some volatile movements.
The gainers among the frontliners were Grasim, Tata Power, M&M, Infosys, Hindalco, Cairn India and Unitech surging 3 to 4 per cent.
Suzlon Energy, Unitech, Satyam, Reliance Capital, RNRL, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries and ITC were active on the trade.
Among the sectors, BSE IT index was up 2.3 per cent. Auto, Metal, Capital Goods and Bank indices went up 1 to 1.8 per cent. However, FMCG dipped 2 per cent.
In the technology arena, Infosys was up 3.5 per cent. Wipro gained 1.28 per cent. HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra went up 0.6% each. TCS was up just 0.28 per cent.
Among the auto stocks, Ashok Leyland, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Hero Honda, Apollo Tyres and Tata Motors gained 1 to 4 per cent.
In the metal space, Hindalco, SAIL, Sterlite, Tata Steel, NALCO, Hindustan Zinc and Jindal Steel were up 1 to 3 per cent.
In the banking stocks, IDBI Bank, Bank of Baroda, IOB, Allahabad Bank, ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, Federal Bank, Oriental Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of India and IndusInd Bank surged 1-4.7%. Axis Bank and HDFC Bank gained 0.7% each.

Mkts open green, Sensex still above 15k
The Dalal street has opened in the green on the Environment Day. Markets are gaining support from positive global cues and the buying in banking, commodities and realty stocks. The Sensex remained above the 15k mark and the Nifty hit the 4600 level in opening trade.
At 9:56 AM, the Sensex was up 78 points, to 15,086 and the Nifty went up 15 points, to 4,588. The CNX Midcap rose 1.7 per cent, to 5,802 and the BSE Smallcap Index surged 1.6 per cent, to 6,630.
The gainers among the frontliners were Cairn, Hindalco, Ambuja Cements, L&T, Sterlite, Ranbaxy Labs, Unitech, DLF, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Idea, ACC and HDFC Bank; while ITC, SBI, HUL, Wipro and Grasim lost.
In the midcap space, banking saw buyin interest and Bank of Rajasthan, IDBI Bank, Dena Bank, Syndicate Bank, DCB, Bank of Maharashtra and Yes Bank gained 5 to 11 per cent.
With the Multiplex Owners and the Bollywood Producers' fight coming to an end, Adlabs, PVR, Inox, Cinemax and FAME surged.
Gujarat NRE Cokde, Sesa Goa and Zee News were the other gainers while TTML, Nagarjuna Fertilisers and IFCI slipped.
