India's inflation falls to 0.48 pc
New Delhi, Jun 4: The government data released on Thursday, Jun 4 showed that the wholesale price index (WPI) rose 0.48 pc in the 12 months to May 23, lower than previous week's annual rise of 0.61 pc. However the prices of essential food items like fruit, tea, cereals and pulses continued to be high.
The annual inflation rate was 8.90 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year. The WPI is more closely watched than tht consumer price index, which is published monthly, because it covers a higher number of products and is released weekly.
