Chennai, May 30: Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi said that his son Stalin deserves the post of Deputy CM. "My son deserves the post of Deputy Chief Minister because of his long innings in politics and his incarceration as a MISA prisoner for a year in the Central Jail during the dark days of emergency in 1976," Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said on Friday, May 30.
He clarified his stand on taking such an important step. Karunanidhi asserted that no one in the party had objected to Stalin becoming the Deputy Chief Minister, since everyone had willingly accepted him as the number two person in the State Cabinet.
"Stalin will really feel proud of the beatings he received during Emergency for the sake of the party than the post he has now inherited from me," he added. MK said that Stalin could handle the post of Deputy CM ably because of his age and political industry.
