Ensure safety of Indian students in Oz: Krishna
New Delhi, May 28: India expressed shock over the attack on its students in Melbourne and asked Australia to ensure the safety of the students.
SM Krishna, the newly appointed External Affairs Minister reminded Australia about its responsibility to ensure the well-being and security of the Indian students studying there.
While commenting on the assault on four Indian students, one of whom is in critical condition, Krishna said, "I have been appalled at the attack on our students in Melbourne." "We will impress upon the Australian authorities that such attacks should not be permitted," he added.
The Indian Consulate General in Oz is in touch with the students who are attacked and also with the state police. India's High Commissioner to Australia Sujatha Singh has rushed to Melbourne to ensure that Sravan Kumar Theerthala, the student who was severely beaten up in a racially motivated assault, receives the best possible treatment and also that the culprits are nabbed.
