Iran, Pak sign gas deal; hope India joins too

Islamabad, May 25: Iran and Pakistan have on Sunday, May 24 reportedly signed a gas deal and both the nations hope that India joins in on the deal.

An Iranian official on Monday, May 25 said that Iran and Pakistan have signed an initial agreement for the multi-billion dollar gas pipeline deal, keeping the option for India open to join them at a later stage.

The so called 'peace pipeline' deal was singed in the presence of President Asif Ali Zardari and his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a three-way summit hosted by Iran.

The summit hosted by Iran brought together Afghanistan and Pakistan, and was aimed at discussing cooperation on regional issues, and the development of Iran as the regional power.
