'Pak will phase out nukes if India does it too'
Washington, May 23: Pakistan Ambassador to the US Hussein Haqqani on Friday, May 22 said that Pakistan would phase out nuclear weapons provided India does the same.
Making a public appeal on CNN for a donation of five dollars that would go into aid for the war refugees of the Swat valley, Haqqani assured that the nuclear weapons of his country are safe and there should be no concern about their security.
"Everybody in the US Government who knows anything about nuclear weapons knows that Pakistan has a very secure nuclear programme. It's a very limited nuclear programme to maintain deterrence vis-a-vis our neighbor," said Haqqani.
He said that Islambad is willing to hold talks with New Delhi in order to phase out all atomic arms possessed by the two countries.
