Cong-DMK fail to agree, DMK to skip oath-taking

New Delhi, May 22: With no resolution reached between the Congress-DMK over the cabinet berths, M Karunanidhi is set to leave to Chennai on Friday, May 22 and will be missing the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to happen in the evening.

Karunanidhi and the party group will leave to Chennai in order to discuss the breakdown of talks with the Congress. Congress led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) which has the numbers to form the government has reportedly offered 'take it or leave it deal'.

Congress is ready to allot three cabinet portfolios to its pre-poll ally including the Chemical and Fertilisers Ministry and Information technology; and allowing DMK to pick a third portfolio from Labour, Textile, Heavy Industries and Small Scale industries.

Speaking to the media before leaving, T R Baalu said that there is nothing to worry about and that the parties are still friends.

And, sources say that Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Manmhoan Sigh held talks early in the morning on Friday, May 22 to renegotiate with DMK.
