Warsaw, May 21: Maria Sharapova ousted Darya Kustova 6-2, 6-0 on Wednesday, May 20 to reach the quarterfinals of the Warsaw Open.
The Russian put up a brilliant show and eliminated her rival in just 57 minutes.
"I played a solid game and did everything that I had to do in order to win," Sharapova said.
She added that it was important that she concentrated on improving her game than on who she is playing against.
This is the first singles tournament Sharapova has played since surgery for a torn rotator cuff last year.
The three time Grand Slam title winner who is playing the her first tournament in nearly 10 months is trying to win back her 2005 No. 1 rank which has gone down to No. 126.
