Obama congratulates 'very wise' Manmohan Singh

Washington, May 21: Calling Manmohan Singh a 'very wise leader', Barack Obama expressed his respect for the reelected Prime Minister of India and said that he will be visiting India soon.

The US president conveyed these sentiments to the new Indian Ambassador to the US, Meera Shankar on Wednesday, May 20 at the White House, during the credential ceremony.

Barack Obama who congratulated Manmohan Singh for his second term as the Prime Minister of India said that he will be visiting India at an early date.

Meera Shankar passed on greeting from President Pratibha Patil and Manmohan Singh to Obama and first lady Michelle Obama saying that she looks forward to strengthening the relationship between India and the United States.
