Govt Formation: UPA partners to meet on May 20

New Delhi, May 20: The country is likely to see the first glimpses of its new government on Wednesday, May 20 as the acting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will stake claim to form a government led by the UPA coalition for a second term.

The United Progressive Aliiance (UPA) partners will be meeting in the morning to decide on the cabinet members. After which Manmohan Singh will call the president Pratibha Patil to inform that a new government is set for the new term.

While Mamata Banerjee is expected to meet the UPA leaders on Wednesday, May 20; allies like DMK's M Karunanidhi have already met both Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday, May 19.

With the BSP and SP extending unconditional support on Tuesday, May 19 the UPA tally jumped to 318.
