New Delhi, May 18: With L K Advani calling quits from active politics, Murli Manohar Joshi and Sushma Swaraj are now seen as the two contenders for the position as the opposition leader.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have decided on not trying to 'persuade' L K Advani to change his decision.
M M Joshi who on Sunday, May 18 said that the party has to elect a new leader now, after praising LK Advani for setting a 'good example'. Even though he claimed that he was not in the race for the position, he said that he would not shy away from the responsibility.
“I have never shied from any responsibility given to me by the party in the past,", he said.
On the other hand, Sushma Swaraj has said that it would be 'painful' to election another leader, while L K Advani was still around.
Apart from Joshi and Swaraj, it is learnt that Jaswant Singh is in the race for the position.
