It feels sweet to have knocked out Liverpool, says Man U's Ferdinand

By Super Admin

London, May 18 (ANI): Rio Ferdinand believes that the 2009 Premier League title triumph has been made all the sweeter with Liverpool's defeat by Manchester United.

Over the 17 years of the Premier League it has been Arsenal, Chelsea and briefly Blackburn jousting with the Red Devils for dominance.

But this season, Liverpool threatened to reclaim the title they last held in 1990.

The Sun quoted centre-half Ferdinand as saying: "It's been a bit more intense because it's a lot closer to home than when it's Chelsea or Arsenal challenging you. Suddenly everywhere you go at the moment there's a Liverpool fan."

"And of course the rivalry between the clubs goes back a long way. It just adds to the satisfaction of equalling Liverpool's record of 18 titles. Yes, especially as we would have beaten them to do it. Overtaking that record would definitely be the next aim," he added.

It is Ferdinand's fourth title since joining the club from Leeds United in 2002. (ANI)
