Nepal: Madhesi Party wants to head govt now
Kathmandu, May 15: In a critical juncture the Madhesi party on Friday, May 15 declared that it would stake its claim in heading the next government.
This move has jeopardized the scene for the CPN-UML, and Madhav Kumar Nepal who was just 11 votes away from his Prime Ministerial seat on Thursday, May 14.
Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) has come up with two options for forming a coalition government.
"We will either form the government under our own leadership or support the CPN-UML led government from outside but our first priority will be to head the next administration," Rameshwor Ray Yadav, Central Member of the party said.
According to sources, Maoists have informally vowed to support a MPRF led government in order to prevent Madhanv Kumar Nepal from becoming the Prime Minister.
MPRF is the fourth largest party with 53 seats in the 601-strong Constituent Assembly. Along with the Maoists the MRPF coalition will gain 291 seats which is just 10 seats away from a majority.
