China beats India out of Asia Hockey Cup

Indian Hockey Team celebrating after winning the 2007 Asia Cup
Kuantan, May 13: India, in their last Group-B match on Tuesday, May 12 failed to reach the Asia Cup"s semi-final stage after drawing a 2-2 with China.

Two out of the four penalty corners were converted by the skipper Sandeep Singh accounting for the score of 2 for India. However, the defense line fell apart allowing Lu Feng Hui and Yu Yang of the Chinese team to score for their side.

China will now play the semi-finals against the Group A winner South Korea on Thursday, May 14.The other semi-final is between Pakistan and host Malaysia.

The Indian Hockey team was defending their championship in the Asia Cup this year. India claimed Gold in the 2007 and 2003 tournaments.

In Apr '09 the Indian team brought home the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup regaining the title after 13 years.
