Poonch, Apr 30 (ANI): Police seized a multi-barrel rocket in Surankote block of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir, a top police official said.
SD Singh Jamwal, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri-Poonch range, said that it is the biggest explosive seized in the past 20 years.
"There has been a recovery, a multi barrel rocket which is 2.5 feet and 105mm in calibre. It is very deadly ammunition, which could have been used as an Improvised Explosive Device. The ammunition contained ten kilograms of TNT (Trinitrotoluene) explosive and sharp nails. If it would have been charged and modified, then it could have well been used as an IED," said Jamwal.
Security has been beefed in Jammu and Kashmir amidst a near month long general polls that began on April 16 and will conclude on May 13.
Though there are only six parliamentary constituencies in the state, the state will vote in all five phases of the staggered polls due to security concerns. (ANI)
