Hyderabad, Apr 29: Wipro BPO, the business process outsourcing division of the IT giant Wipro Technologies announced its plan to hire and expand operations globally despite economic downturn.
Ashutosh Vaidya, Wipro BPO head said, "For the last six months, we have been hearing depressing news about people losing jobs and companies resorting to cost-cutting measures but we are still looking for people." The company which has at present, 3,150 people working at the Wipro BPO Hyderabad facility is planning to recruit 1,000 to 1,200.
Wipro, which has its operations in 14 locations in India and abroad, currently employs 22,600. On an average, it is adding 8,000 to 10,000 employees a year, Vaidya added.
The leading IT firm in India which entered in BPO business in 2001-02 has 52 clients at present.
