New Delhi, Apr 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress of misusing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Quattrocchi case in relation to the Bofors case.
BJP has alleged that Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi getting a clean chit from CBI has something to do with the close relationship he shares with the Gandhi family. BJP leader Balbir Punj also said that CBI should be renamed as 'Congress Bureau of Investigation' and accused the Congress of misusing the CBI like it did in the Jagdish Tytler case.
However, the congress rubbished this. Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi said "This is not the final verdict. If anybody has a problem with CBI's decision, one can appeal in the honourable court. Congress Party has nothing to do with it."
Apart from this, L K Advani has also demanded a probe into into the agency's role during the last five years.
While campaigning in Gandhinagar Advani said, "This is a serious decision. It is not a question of Quattrocchi alone but the entire role of the agency during the last five years which should be probed. It is a very serious issue. They have become the "dastak" or "handtool" in the hands of politicians."
